Board Meeting Minutes
Saturday, July 14, 2007, 1 P.M.

President Bruce Meyers called the meeting to order at 1:03pm
Directors Present: Bruce Meyers, Dan Gatlin, Peggy Price, John Govans, Olivia Carter, Al Brown, Ed Palaygi, Traci Cirioni
Directors Absent: Sylvia Livingston, Clayton Bailey, James Peppers (excused), William Tramel, Mary Adkison,
Association Manager absent: Lisa Tajdari(excused)
Members Present: Darlene Hawkins, Harry Frisbee, Myrrel Stokes, Barbara Skipper, Morris Ouzts
Guests: David Paffumi
The minutes from the May 19, 2007, meeting were reviewed individually. A correction was needed to the election of officers, section v.(c.) James Peppers was elected to the final two-year term available. It was Ed Palagyi, who was elected, because James Peppers was elected in section v.(b.) A motion was made by Dan Gatlin to accept minutes from the meeting, as corrected. Olivia Carter seconded the motion and all present were in favor.

2) Be a great host for NW Tournament
3) Association to run tournaments that the bowlers want
4) Scholarship program register with S.M.A.R.T
5) Awards program re-defined with Harry
Lisa Tajdari tendered her resignation with Bruce and Dan due to other obligations. She has worked hard with the merging of organization into USBC.
Bruce asked Traci to take notes for today’s meeting.
There were two interested in people for filling Lisa’s position, Traci Cirioni and James Peppers
- Status of Tallahassee Bowling Centers for Fall
Reports from Center Managers if available (David Paffumi, Mike Fine)
David Paffumi, new manager for Capital Lanes, gave an update of Capital Lanes, tentative opening August 1st. Vector Plus scoring system, Brunswick machines, Laser tag game area and 4000 sq. ft. Arcade area. No pro shop at this time, but speaking with someone for maybe at Seminole or Capital. Conference area will be in bar area. No child care will be available.
Fall leagues should be able to start on time. Plenty of openings for leagues.
Will have a new mechanic at Capital Lanes
Will have new sign, but City regulations will determine size and placement.
Road and parking lot will be repaved.
Bruce thanked the Dr. for investing in bowling in Tallahassee.
Other centers
Crenshaw will do same thing as prior years, will have two sanctioned leagues on Monday and Tuesday nights. Monday night will be sport league.
Sport upgrade will be $10.00, it was $9.00 last year.
Even though University Center, local bowlers are welcome there. They comply to USBC for those leagues.
Crenshaw will sponsor the 5th Annual Sport Classic, July 22, 23 and July 28, 29.
Galimore working to do improvement, Sam Watts, maintenance, will be coming back as OPS.
VP Report
Scotch doubles on Saturday night, if anyone is willing to participate he will run it.
Florida State Association Jamboree end of October, will be in Panama City this year.
With Lisa Tajdari’s resignation should she attend? Bruce will check with her.
Harry thought new association manager should attend. Will be decided at a later date.
Director’s Reports
Lane Inspection Committee Report
Capital will have synthetic lanes, lanes expected about 3 weeks ago by the committee, but beds were not ready yet. But will be inspected when ready.

Committee Work Discussion
- Audit Report. Audit committee had to postpone meeting that was set up yesterday, but will conduct audit at a later day, prior to records being transferred to new association manager.
- Youth Committee
John Govans questioned David Paffumi regarding youth bowling and help to promote in the school system. David very eager to help and meet with school board, if needed. Hopefully to offer discount for after school bowling.
John Govans plans with Superintendent of School to out reach to schools for focus on youth bowling. DARE program no longer in schools, so need to focus on youth involvement in positive programs.
James Graves already has ball rolling for high school bowling. Held a high tournament and is working closely with schools
Traci Cirioni reported Youth went to state and had a Zachary Petty a bantam prep place 1st in his division singles and Josh Bobo as doubles. Megan Gutsch placed 1st in her division, but bowled under another house.

Josh Govans received 500 youth pin.
Greg Miller youth award.
Harry has to double check to make sure no duplicates.
Discussion on how to process awards timely and without duplicates.

Association manager position is appointed with board approval.
James Peppers and Traci Cirioni interested. Lisa, Dan and Bruce scheduled to meet with James and Traci. Lisa, Dan, Bruce and Traci attended.
Traci Cirioni is willing to accept position. Bruce called for approval, all in favor no one opposed.
Jamboree Plans
August 19th, Sunday
3:00-5:00, Capital Lanes with Scotch doubles to follow
Ed has information about Bainbridge no tap want to toughen up shot. Still holding no tap on 2nd Sunday.
Ed went to Seniors at Reno. Some of old codgers are all sandbaggers. He had a lot of fun, so when you get to be a senior, it’s worth checking into.
Dan motioned to give Lisa a Tallahassee USBC Association shirt. Peggy Price seconded, all approved.
Bowler’s Roundtable
John Govans is in search of volunteer for the Annual Kops N Kids Bowling Day at Seminole Bowl on Tuesday, July 24th from 10:00-1:00
Harry question regarding purchase of new lap top. We do have old desk top but, Don Griffin said really out dated. Harry mentioned to make sure all software compatible. Recent update of Winlabs.
Backup of information on someone else’s machine as another place. Right now only on laptop, with backups on hard drive and data on a flash drive.
Need to have members research purchase of new laptop.
Publicity person to help with Website and or newsletter.
Maybe Riley Sims mother.
