Bowlers enshrine Griffin
Don Griffin isn't one to be lost for words when it comes to talking about bowling, but the other day he was a bit choked up after being inducted into the Tallahassee Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Griffin was inducted for his heroics as a player and his commitment to community service.
"I'm a little short on words about it because I haven't digested it fully yet." Griffin said. I was just lucky that I was able to perform in a way that people would recognize me as a bowler. It's really great.
"I was a little bit surprised because you never really truly expect something like that."
Griffin, 67, joined the association 20 years ago when he moved to Tallahasssee. He has since served in several capacities, including his current project as designer of the Association's Web site.
He is still active in league games but splits his time playing the Southern Regional pro tour. His most recent tour outing was in April, when he had a finish out of the money.
But the subpar performance wasn't discouraging. "When you don't make the cut, you come back and practice and try again." Griffin said.
Griffin recently retired from the Florida Department of Revenue, where he worked the last 11 of 20 years in state government.
